Description:
Your resume is a reflection of you as an attorney. If you are looking for a job and want to highlight your skills, remember that writing an attorney's resume is essential. The resume you send out to prospective employers is the first impression they will have of who you are. It's not just a document that lists your skills and education; it can actually speak volumes about things like how professional or polished you are. In this video, Harrison Barnes advises having a focused resume and avoid many things going on. Here are some ways how to have a focused resume:
- Tailor each job description on your lawyer's resume for every company or organization that asks to see one.
- Clearly define what you want to do in your career path, whether working at a small law firm or large corporation.
- Be concise when listing your work experience - use bullet points if necessary.
- Keep the formatting simple - no more than two fonts per page and one line per description.

The next one, and I hope this is helping guys. I know this is a lot of information, but if you learn this stuff your resumes will be much, much better. The person is also a attorney.
Yeah, foreign attorneys. Just take my advice about what I'm doing with kind of a US-based attorneys having all these memberships and stuff on here, no one in the United States knows what these mean. The sectors, all this stuff that needs to come off. And so a lot of people, I'm actually very happy that a lot of foreign attorneys and other people, I think the people that are asking many times for help here are ones that may be having issues.
Sometimes with getting positions. Now, this particular attorney has been at some exceptional law firms. So I don't know that there's really any issues with that, but I think that here that the, a lot of this experience really speaks for itself.
So I, particularly having worked at Stein Ray, which is a very good firm and some of these different firms is very good. I and also Greenberg Traurig in Mexico city and so forth. To the extent that this person can, I think that they want to really clean a lot of this up and and just be as focused as possible if you're applying for positions in the U S then, emphasize that you were, you worked out Stein re if you're applying for positions in Mexico city same thing emphasize where you work there.
And then really I would this type of resume, I probably would have two versions. I would have one that had my us legal experience and other legal experience. And the one that had other types of experience was the person, okay, this same sort of thing Chicago off. So this all problematical so a lot of people are independent contractors and things, and okay.
Kind of work. And there's nothing wrong with that. But the problem is when you do those sorts of things independently you're showing you're getting experience, but you're not working in groups and law firms or groups, and most employers are groups. To the extent you can
No. You want to talk about maybe, some companies you may have worked with. So if you're an independent strategy consultant I don't know where this was, but none of this really says, the law firms are looking at this and employers are looking at this and they're saying, does this person have skills we can use?
So here, you're just saying comparatively research, antitrust styles from the background of legal frameworks in the United States and China, I don't know, is that something that law firms are looking for? And then insurance advisor global services internship in Jerusalem. So the problem is with this resume is there's just a lot of things going on.
And then why is this person taking a certified financial planner course? And all legal resumes need to have a focus. And that's the big lesson here is that, a lot of these resumes that I'm seeing today have really do lack a lot of focus. And if you lack focus and it doesn't, someone needs to look at your resume and say, almost instantly this is this type of attorney, this is a real estate attorney.
This is this type of attorney. And if they don't see that right away then then it's going to hurt you. And it's, it doesn't work. So that, I hope that lesson comes through it's very important for you to be able to do that with whatever you're doing, you have to be able to show people exactly what you're doing.
