A law firm seeks an experienced and Board-Certified Senior Associate Attorney to join its dynamic family law team in San Antonio. This position presents the opportunity to handle complex family law cases both collaboratively with partners and independently. The ideal candidate will be passionate about litigation, progress toward board certification, and thrive in a technology-driven, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee complex family law cases from inception through resolution, working both independently and with senior attorneys.
  • Prepare and file all necessary legal documents, including motions, petitions, and responses.
  • Handle trial preparation, and conduct bench trials and jury trials as first or second chair.
  • Defend and conduct depositions, prepare for and participate in mediations.
  • Lead proactive and empathetic communication with clients, ensuring they are informed throughout the case process.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 40 to 60 family law matters, ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
  • Conduct comprehensive discovery work and manage all aspects of casework with minimal reliance on support staff.
  • Cultivate new client relationships and grow referral sources to support the firm’s business development.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of civil litigation experience, preferably in family law.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of complex cases, with attention to detail.
  • Strong skills in trial preparation, drafting, depositions, and mediation.
  • Exceptional client communication, both in written and verbal forms, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to manage a large docket independently.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Additional Senior Associate Requirements:

  • Board Certification in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Texas Family Code and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Mastery of local rules, procedures, and deadlines in family law matters.
  • Proven history of converting potential clients into loyal clients.
  • Interest in nurturing professional relationships and referral sources to build the firm’s business.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, in good standing.
  • Board Certification in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (required for senior-level applicants).

Skills:

  • Expertise in family law litigation, including trial work and case management.
  • Advanced drafting and legal research skills.
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage a diverse and complex caseload.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and maintain referral relationships.
  • Familiarity with case management software and technology tools.
