Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Social Security Disability in Plano, TX. This full-time, on-site position involves working directly with the practice lead on disability cases from the hearing level through federal district court appeal.

Duties

  • Prepare and represent claimants at hearings before Administrative Law Judges.
  • Develop and marshal medical and vocational evidence, collaborating with treating sources and experts.
  • Draft pre-hearing briefs, on-the-record requests, and theory-of-the-case memos.
  • Handle Appeals Council review of unfavorable decisions.
  • Brief and argue appeals of denied claims in federal district court.
  • Maintain close client communication regarding status, evidence, and hearing preparation.

Requirements

  • Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas (or admission pending).
  • Social Security Disability experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong client communication skills with empathy and judgment.
  • Familiarity with SSA five-step sequential evaluation and federal appellate practice is a plus.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus, not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
