Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Cybersecurity and Incident Response Associate to join their team in San Francisco, California. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in cybersecurity law while working on high-profile matters. The successful candidate will collaborate with clients across various sectors, providing strategic legal counsel in response to cybersecurity incidents.

Duties

  • Help clients prepare for and mitigate security incident risks.
  • Advise on cybersecurity laws and regulations.
  • Provide counsel on security aspects of corporate transactions.
  • Guide security teams on offensive security and intelligence gathering.
  • Direct forensic investigations.
  • Manage regulatory and litigation risks.
  • Develop communication strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Support clients with cybersecurity readiness and governance.

Requirements

  • Two to four years of cybersecurity/privacy experience in a technology-focused practice.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Sound judgment and attention to detail under time pressure.
  • Team-first mindset and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Membership in the State Bar of California or ability to become admitted promptly.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

  • Membership in the State Bar of California.
