Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its team in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of experience, particularly in handling construction, surety law, and other commercial litigation matters in federal and state courts. Location:

Duties:

  • Handle construction, surety law, and commercial litigation matters in both federal and state courts.

  • Perform legal research, analysis, and writing to support case preparation.

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.

  • Provide oral advocacy in court hearings and trials.

  • Manage case files and ensure deadlines are met.

  • Collaborate with the team to develop legal strategies and provide excellent client service.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in construction, surety law, and commercial litigation.

  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple cases.

  • Licensure in Virginia (required); licensure in Maryland, West Virginia, and/or the District of Columbia is a plus.

  • A portable book of business is a plus but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia (required).

  • Licensure in Maryland, West Virginia, and/or the District of Columbia (preferred, but not required).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral advocacy and litigation skills.

  • Ability to handle complex cases and client matters.
