VA Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mission-driven VA Associate Attorney to join their legal team in Springfield, MO. This remote position focuses on representing veterans in disability compensation claims before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Board of Veterans' Appeals.

Duties

• Represent clients throughout the VA disability claims and appeals process, including hearings.
• Prepare and review applications, appeals, and legal documentation.
• Analyze medical records and other evidence to develop legal arguments.
• Work with VA paralegals and Client Support Coordinators for timely record collection.
• Monitor case status and take appropriate follow-up actions.
• Maintain thorough documentation in the case management system.
• Provide compassionate legal guidance to clients.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support a mission-driven culture.

Requirements

• Active law license or ability to obtain licensure within one month of hire.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage a large caseload.
• Experience with VA disability claims, Social Security Disability, or appellate work is a plus.
• Must be coachable, collaborative, and client-focused.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
