This role calls for an individual with 3-6 years of experience handling complex commercial litigation, who thrives in high-stakes, fast-paced environments and possesses a strategic approach to legal challenges. The ideal candidate will work closely with a team of skilled litigators, providing critical support in case strategy, legal research, and courtroom preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft detailed motions, briefs, and memoranda in support of case arguments.
  • Manage discovery processes, including the preparation of responses, document production, and depositions.
  • Engage in pre-trial and trial preparation, from developing case strategy to assisting with witness examination and evidence organization.
  • Represent clients in mediations, hearings, and, when appropriate, in the courtroom.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and senior associates to devise case strategies tailored to client objectives.
  • Communicate consistently with clients to provide updates, manage expectations, and explain legal processes and potential outcomes.
  • Assess case strengths and weaknesses and identify risks and opportunities for clients.
  • Stay updated on case law, trends, and emerging issues in commercial litigation to apply to active cases effectively.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in commercial litigation, preferably in a law firm or similar setting.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois and in good standing with the bar.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills with an ability to present clear, concise arguments and adapt to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with all phases of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational skills.

Educational Background:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials with a proven record of achievement.

Certifications and Licensure:

  • An active license to practice law in Illinois is required.
  • Additional bar admissions in neighboring jurisdictions are a plus but not mandatory.

  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to assess complex legal issues.
