Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an Attorney to join its Springfield, Illinois, office to handle workers' compensation and general liability defense matters. This role involves representing employers and insurers in litigation and administrative proceedings while managing case strategy and related responsibilities.

Duties:

• Defend workers' compensation and general liability cases
• Conduct discovery and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations
• Investigate claims and assist in analyzing accident-related issues
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
• Monitor case trends and report findings to management
• Prepare and submit reports related to case activity
• Participate in claims reviews and coordinate with relevant stakeholders

Requirements:

• Experience in workers' compensation or general liability defense
• Strong understanding of legal principles and litigation processes
• Ability to manage cases and provide effective representation
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a structured environment

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Admission to the Illinois Bar; admission in another Midwest jurisdiction is a plus
