Job Title: Senior-Level Affordable Housing Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Dallas, TX seeks a seasoned legal practitioner with deep experience in affordable housing transactions. This opportunity offers a platform to work on impactful housing projects alongside for-profit, nonprofit, and government clients. Candidates will contribute to multifaceted matters involving financing, acquisition, development, and preservation of housing assets, both within Texas and across multiple jurisdictions. This recruitment is being handled exclusively by a legal search firm on behalf of the hiring firm.

Duties:

  • Guide complex affordable housing deals from inception through closing

  • Draft, revise, and negotiate transactional documents for varied deal structures

  • Conduct comprehensive legal due diligence and project assessments

  • Collaborate directly with clients, counterparts, and internal team members

  • Manage timelines and workstreams with minimal supervision

  • Offer strategic counsel on financing and regulatory considerations

  • Engage in transactions involving LIHTC (both 4% and 9%), refinancing, acquisitions, dispositions, and exits

  • Represent a diverse array of stakeholders including developers, lenders, investors, and public entities

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of practicing law within a firm environment

  • Extensive experience with affordable housing finance and incentives

  • Proficiency in navigating LIHTC closings and related legal frameworks

  • Familiarity with the needs and perspectives of developers, lenders, and investors

  • Capability to work under demanding timelines with a high degree of autonomy

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication proficiency

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited, nationally recognized law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas

Skills:

  • Transactional leadership and client relationship skills

  • Strategic problem-solving and detail orientation

  • High emotional intelligence in high-stakes negotiations
