Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Finance Transactional Attorney to lead and expand its finance practice. This opportunity is ideal for a Texas-licensed attorney with more than a decade of experience representing regional banks and financial institutions. The ideal candidate has a strong reputation within the finance legal community, an established referral network, and the ability to independently generate substantial business. This position offers the flexibility to shape and grow a dedicated finance practice while avoiding conflicts with national banks or bankruptcy-related work.

Location:

  • Houston, Texas

Duties:

  • Represent regional banks and financial institutions in a variety of transactional matters

  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan documents, credit agreements, security instruments, and other finance-related contracts

  • Structure and execute commercial lending transactions, including secured and unsecured financings

  • Provide strategic legal counsel on regulatory and compliance issues in banking and finance

  • Develop and manage a self-sustaining finance law practice

  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships with regional banks and financial entities

  • Collaborate with attorneys in related practice groups for cross-functional support

  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to firm growth

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in finance transactional law

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial lending and regional banking structures

  • No conflicts with national banks or bankruptcy practices

  • Proven business development track record with a portable book of business of $750,000+ annually

  • Well-established presence in the Texas finance legal community

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas (required)

Skills:

  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills related to financial instruments

  • Strong client service and relationship management skills

  • Deep understanding of banking regulations and financial transaction structures

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

  • Business acumen and strategic thinking for practice development
