Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience for its St. Louis, MO office. The successful candidate will engage in all stages of cases, including court appearances, as part of a team handling toxic tort cases and civil litigation.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload of litigated claims, preparing them for trial with case-specific defense strategies.
  • Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations.
  • Analyze discovery, medical records, expert defense strategy, and motion practice.
  • Research legal issues and investigate people, businesses, and worksites.
  • Draft briefs, memos, and client updates.

Requirements

  • Actively licensed and in good standing with the State of Illinois.
  • 3 - 6 years' experience in defense litigation; toxic tort experience preferred.
  • Substantial deposition experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Client-focused mentality and ability to handle multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently within a strong team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
