Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Tax Controversy Associate in Miami. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 7 years of civil tax controversy experience, preferably at a law firm, and will work under the supervision of attorneys across offices.

Duties

  • Represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and state tax agencies.
  • Conduct efficient legal research and analysis.
  • Prepare and review draft legal documents related to tax controversy matters.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Interact daily with clients and manage client relationships.
  • Collaborate with large transactional practices.

Requirements

  • 4 to 7 years of civil tax controversy experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong technical abilities.
  • Bar admission or eligibility to obtain admission promptly in the jurisdiction of resident office location.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

  • LL.M. in Taxation is a plus.

  • Ability to break down complex topics and identify practical solutions.
  • Deliver timely and succinct work product.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
