Job Overview

A law firm seeks an energetic and results-oriented attorney for its Commercial and Special Assets department in Overland Park, KS. The role involves representing creditors and financial institutions in collection actions, requiring legal reasoning and creative problem-solving skills.

Duties

  • Represent creditors in money judgment collection matters.
  • Review and draft legal documents and pleadings.
  • Interpret contracts and resolve disputes and issues.
  • Negotiate settlements and communicate with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Assist with the management of support staff.
  • Make court appearances and travel to surrounding counties as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.
  • Application for licensure in Iowa and Nebraska within 6 months of hire.
  • 2-5 years of general civil court experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of creditor rights law and collections matters beneficial.
  • Proficiency with electronic documents and general computer literacy.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in Kansas and Missouri.

Skills

  • Strong legal reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
