Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Los Angeles, CA, to join its dynamic civil litigation defense team. The ideal candidate will possess strong research and writing skills, a passion for advocacy, and excellent interpersonal abilities.

Duties

• Coordinate with clients and co-counsel during all phases of discovery.
• Manage all facets of cases from discovery through trial.
• Organize and maintain case files; coordinate with secretaries and other staff.
• Review and analyze discovery requests and prepare responses.
• Supervise document reviews with legal team, clients, and vendors.
• Assist with document reviews for responsiveness and privilege.
• Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial.
• Prepare standard court filings.
• Keep accurate time records for client fees.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor Degree.
• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Strong, concise communication and writing skills.
• Experience in taking and defending depositions.
• Experience in reporting to insurance carriers preferred.
• Experience in preparing/drafting/arguing demurrers, motions to strike, and motions for summary adjudication/judgment preferred.
• Familiarity with written and oral discovery is required.

Education

• Juris Doctor Degree.

Certifications

• Active license with the State Bar of California.
