Job Overview
A law firm seeks a patent agent to join their Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and relevant experience in patent preparation and prosecution.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in electrical engineering and software-related technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and draft patent applications.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members.

 

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Admission to the USPTO.
  • Experience in machine learning, telecommunications, autonomous driving, RF circuitry, or hardware security preferred.

 

Education

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics.

 

Certifications

  • USPTO admission required.

 

Skills

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
