Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly qualified associate with 3-5 years of experience to join their Cyber, Privacy, and Data Innovation group in San Francisco, CA. This role involves advising global companies on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI compliance programs, navigating U.S. and international laws, and developing AI governance frameworks.

Duties

  • Advise on compliance with major privacy and data protection frameworks.
  • Negotiate privacy, security, and data-related terms in commercial contracts.
  • Handle privacy and security components of corporate transactions.
  • Engage directly with clients and lead significant projects.
  • Develop AI governance frameworks and counsel on AI innovation.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and data protection.
  • Experience with CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, BIPA, CAN-SPAM, TCPA.
  • Familiarity with AI regulatory developments and governance frameworks preferred.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Proactive communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for technology and emerging technologies.

Education

  • JD from a nationally recognized law school.

Certifications

  • CIPP/US, CIPT, CIPM, AIGP, or other IAPP certifications are a plus.
  • Admission to the state bar of the office location.

Salaries are in line with other top Bay Area firms, and the firm provides a $10,000 bonus for all lawyers who bill at least 1,950 hours, with additional money based on three separate billable-hour levels above 1,950.
