Senior AI and Innovation Counsel

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior AI and Innovation Counsel in Austin, Texas. This role involves embedding AI into legal practice and driving its adoption across the firm. The successful candidate will collaborate with legal practice groups, IT, and other business services functions to enhance legal services and streamline operations.

Duties

• Embed within priority practice groups to encourage AI tool adoption.
• Validate AI outputs to ensure they meet professional and client standards.
• Translate attorney needs into actionable requirements for innovation teams.
• Integrate AI tools into existing workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
• Identify and develop high-value use cases for AI solutions.
• Partner with innovation functions to translate workflows into functional specifications.
• Support rapid prototyping and testing of new workflows and tools.
• Manage and mentor a team of AI and innovation lawyers.
• Build trusted relationships with partners and attorneys across practice groups.

Requirements

• JD required.
• Minimum seven years' experience as a practicing attorney or in KM/Innovation within professional services.
• Deep understanding of legal workflows and delivery in practice.
• Proven experience with legal technology and project management.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Understanding of data privacy, security, and responsible AI considerations.
