A law firm seeks a skilled Lateral Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join its expanding healthcare litigation defense team in Richmond, Virginia. The firm is dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation to healthcare professionals and facilities across the Commonwealth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with an interest in health care law.

Duties

  • Defend health care providers in medical malpractice litigation and related appeals.
  • Handle cases involving government investigations, criminal matters, licensing disputes, and regulatory audits.
  • Represent clients during administrative hearings and before regulatory boards of the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to develop case strategies.
  • Conduct thorough legal research, drafting motions, pleadings, and other necessary documents.
  • Engage in trial preparation and provide effective advocacy in court.
  • Proactively identify legal issues and work with clients to mitigate risks and reduce liability exposure.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Virginia.
  • Proven experience in civil litigation, with a preference for medical malpractice defense.
  • Strong writing, research, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also managing individual case responsibilities.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and dedicated service to health care professionals.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Current admission to the Virginia State Bar is required.
