Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate with 1 to 5 years of litigation experience to join its team in California. The role involves handling general liability, product liability, premises liability, and catastrophic injury cases, with collaboration alongside the Aviation practice group. The candidate should be proactive, motivated, and organized, possessing excellent research and writing skills, and able to interact professionally with opposing counsel and clients.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload of 10-20 matters.
  • Investigate claims and develop case strategies.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests.
  • Review and analyze documents for production.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Draft and submit pleadings and motions.
  • Attend hearings and argue motions.
  • Prepare pre-trial and trial documents.
  • Prepare cases for mediation/trial and participate in mediation/trial.
  • Report effectively to clients.

Requirements

  • Admission to the bar in California.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of litigation.
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills.
  • Effective oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.

Education

  • Possess excellent academic credentials from a reputable law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar in California.
