Job Overview

A law firm seeks a litigation attorney in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of civil litigation experience and be adept at managing cases independently. Experience in consumer warranty defense is advantageous but not mandatory. This role involves client interaction, strategic litigation management, and contributing to the firm's efficiency initiatives.

Duties

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution.
  • Draft, analyze, and argue motions, oppositions, and briefs.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties, experts, and third-party witnesses.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including meet-and-confers and discovery motions.
  • Participate in and lead settlement negotiations.
  • Appear in court for hearings, law & motion, and case management.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including pre-trial filings and strategy.
  • Communicate regularly with clients about case status and strategy.
  • Provide support and informal mentorship to junior attorneys and staff.

Requirements

  • Active California State Bar member in good standing.
  • 4-7 years of civil litigation experience (consumer warranty defense a plus).
  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience managing cases with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with taking and defending depositions.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic litigation plans.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Team-oriented, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Experience handling mediations.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
