Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Intellectual Property Litigation Associate in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will have five to seven years of experience in intellectual property litigation, with a focus on managing complex cases and providing strategic client counsel.

Duties

  • Lead management of complex IP litigation in U.S. federal courts and PTAB proceedings.
  • Draft and argue various motions, including claim construction and summary judgment.
  • Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses for testimony.
  • Oversee fact and expert discovery, including ESI protocols and privilege issues.
  • Develop infringement and invalidity strategies; collaborate with technical experts.
  • Prepare for trial and support trial teams in court.
  • Manage claim construction strategy and coordinate damages analyses.
  • Provide client counseling on litigation strategy and risk management.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of intellectual property litigation experience at a leading firm.
  • Substantial experience across all phases of IP litigation; trial experience preferred.
  • Technical background preferred; USPTO registration a plus.
  • Experience with PTAB IPRs and/or ITC Section 337 investigations a strong plus.
  • Exceptional legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proficiency with FRCP, FRE, patent local rules, and e-discovery tools.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Admission to at least one U.S. state bar and eligibility for admission in WA.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

  • USPTO registration preferred.

  • Strong strategic judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
