Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Attorney specializing in Mechanical Arts to join its office in Wichita, Kansas. The successful candidate will engage in drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, as well as advising on intellectual property and technology-related agreements.

Duties

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in mechanical engineering fields.
  • Review and draft intellectual property and technology-related agreements and licenses.
  • Provide patentability, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the mechanical arts.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task efficiently.
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor, higher degree, or equivalent in Law.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar.

Certifications

  • U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
  • Licensed to practice law in Kansas.

Skills

  • Independent thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in drafting and reviewing complex legal documents.
