Immigration Attorney - Deportation Defense

Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney in Encino, CA, with a focus on deportation defense and asylum. The ideal candidate will have a passion for immigration law and experience in representing clients in removal proceedings.

Duties

• Attend master, contested, and individual hearings.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for individual hearings.
• Conduct client intakes and advise on strategies and defenses against deportation.
• Prepare and accompany clients to asylum and USCIS interviews.
• Prepare motions, briefs, and evidentiary submissions for court proceedings.
• File and brief appeals before the BIA.
• Conduct legal research and write briefs for waivers and administrative appeals.

Requirements

• Graduated from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice law.
• 2-3 years of experience in deportation defense and asylum.
• Experience with both affirmative and defensive asylum applications.
• Litigation experience, including examining witnesses on direct and cross-examination.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Foreign language abilities preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed attorney.
