Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Election Law Attorney in Southfield, MI. The attorney will collaborate with leading progressive and civic organizations to shape policy and protect democratic values.

Duties

  • Advise Michigan's progressive and civic organizations on legal, HR, and structural issues.
  • Draft, analyze, and support or oppose legislation and ballot initiatives.
  • Provide legal counsel on campaign finance and election law to candidates, PACs, and advocacy organizations.
  • Engage in litigation across state and federal courts, including constitutional, election, and administrative law matters.
  • Support clients such as the Michigan AFL-CIO, Equality Michigan, and other advocacy groups.
  • Collaborate on landmark cases before the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court.

Requirements

  • Bar admission in Michigan or ability to waive in.
  • 3+ years of legal experience.
  • Interest or background in election, nonprofit, labor, or campaign finance law.
  • Strong research, writing, and litigation skills.
  • Commitment to progressive values and client service.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
