Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Intellectual Property Attorney in Madison, WI. This position involves providing comprehensive legal counsel on patent applications, advising on IP strategy, and supporting litigation and licensing matters.

Duties

  • Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent and trademark applications.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searching and analysis.
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to identify and protect innovations.
  • Advise on IP strategy, portfolio management, and risk mitigation.
  • Support IP litigation, licensing, and due diligence activities.
  • Monitor competitor IP and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active and in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Member of the US Patent Bar.
  • One to three years of experience in patent prosecution preferred.

Education

  • Doctor of Law

Certifications

  • Member of the US Patent Bar
