Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Adoption Attorney in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for a courtroom-ready advocate passionate about securing permanent solutions for families. The position offers a supportive platform to focus on practicing law at the highest level without the administrative burdens of solo or small-firm practice.

Duties

  • Lead private, agency, stepparent, foster care, and international adoption cases under the Texas Family Code.
  • Represent clients in Harris County and surrounding courts during termination of parental rights and finalization hearings.
  • Conduct hearings, mediations, and consults using deep knowledge of Texas adoption laws and regulations.
  • Provide empathetic representation to help families navigate emotional and rewarding chapters.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas bar license for a minimum of 2 years.
  • At least 2 years of dedicated Texas Family Law litigation experience, with a focus on adoption procedures (5+ years preferred).
  • Strong courtroom presence and ability to manage a busy docket with care and composure.
  • Experience in drafting adoption petitions, agreements, pleadings, and discovery with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Clio, TxDoc, Google Suite, or similar drafting and client management software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Texas State Bar.
