Associate Attorney for Chicago office

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its boutique Chicago-based legal team specializing in capital markets transactions. The ideal candidate will assist in negotiating and documenting agreements, including prime brokerage, OTC and listed derivatives, ISDA Master Agreements, custodial agreements, and more. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the finance and legal industries while working closely with attorneys and clients in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

• Summarize legal documents and negotiation points for partner review.
• Participate in negotiations with clients and dealers.
• Draft and review contracts under attorney supervision.
• Assist clients with due diligence functions.
• Facilitate communication between clients and attorneys.
• Develop and test web-based legal applications.
• Track and maintain records of ongoing negotiations.
• Assist with file management and project tracking.
• Support administrative staff with tasks as needed.
• Conduct legal research and audit existing contracts for compliance and accuracy.

Requirements:

• Strong writing skills and a solid understanding of English grammar.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; PowerPoint knowledge is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
• Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to handle high-pressure situations.
• Interest in legal frameworks and financial markets.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligible to obtain licensure.
