Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dynamic and self-starting individual to serve as a Civil Attorney in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will demonstrate vision, initiative, and a commitment to civil law, managing a caseload and supervising a team of paralegals.

Duties

  • Manage a civil law caseload and supervise paralegals.
  • Monitor active caseload for deadlines and necessary actions.
  • Review and maintain proper recordkeeping and file maintenance.
  • Edit and review drafted original petitions, answers, and counterpetitions.
  • Complete and draft pre-trial discovery documents.
  • Represent clients as 1st chair in bench and jury trials.
  • Attend mediations, depositions, and other case-related proceedings.
  • File post-judgment motions, bills of review, and appeals.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the Civil Department.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and court personnel.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • Relevant legal experience with a commitment to civil law.
  • Demonstrated trial and advocacy skills with litigation experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and planning abilities.
  • Flexible work schedule availability.
  • Strong work ethic and accountability.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Excellent attendance record.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
