Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mission-driven Attorney to join their team in Omaha, NE. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys supporting tribal nations and organizations across a wide range of legal needs.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on tribal governance and program issues.
  • Draft, review, and revise contracts, policies, ordinances, and resolutions.
  • Analyze correspondence and agreements to identify issues and recommend actions.
  • Provide legal advice to tribal governments, departments, and enterprises.
  • Participate in client meetings and project planning sessions.
  • Assist with preparation for tribal court or administrative proceedings.
  • Travel to client sites for meetings and project work as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed attorney in good standing.
  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Experience with tribal governments and/or federal Indian law or tribal law.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and client interaction comfort.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in good standing.

Skills

  • Detail-oriented and efficient in time management.
  • Experience drafting policies and legal memoranda.
  • Litigation or tribal court experience is a plus.
