Duties

  • Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony matters in Missouri and Kansas courts.
  • Manage a full caseload from intake through resolution, including trial preparation.
  • Analyze cases strategically and execute effective defense plans.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda with precision and efficiency.
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors and manage case progression effectively.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure timely movement of matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support workflow and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing in Missouri and/or Kansas (additional jurisdictions a plus).
  • 1-3 years of criminal defense, prosecution, or comparable litigation experience required.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and a high level of accountability.
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Professional judgment and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish very desirable.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed and in good standing in Missouri and/or Kansas.
