Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Associate, Counsel, or Income Partner to join its Private Clients, Trusts & Estates practice in Ann Arbor, MI. This role involves working with partners on significant multi-line and multi-generational client matters, advising family offices, and developing sophisticated planning strategies.

Duties

• Advise family offices and closely-held business owners.
• Develop and implement lifetime and testamentary planning strategies.
• Manage and supervise tax implications research and projections.
• Prepare client educational and summary materials.
• Communicate directly with clients to advance their goals.
• Manage client projects from inception to conclusion.

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing in the practicing jurisdiction.
• Experience managing client projects and supervising junior attorneys.
• Strong understanding of income, fiduciary, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax regimes.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Willingness to complete projects on short notice.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Bar admission in the practicing jurisdiction.

The Michigan-based office is a recently opened practice. Area of concentration includes complex commercial litigation matters. Eight practiced attorneys are on staff. They represent clients across the country. A number of their practice disciplines consist of varied antitrust disputes, restraint of trade-trade regulation, corporate contracts-transactions, mergers-acquisitions, partnership agreements, intellectual property, and media law.
