Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Federal Litigation Attorney to join their team in Century City, California. This remote position is open to candidates across the United States, with a preference for those based in California. The role involves handling federal court litigation, requiring active admission to at least one California federal district court.

Duties

  • File and litigate cases in California federal district courts.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for state and federal court.
  • Conduct case assessments, investigations, and legal research.
  • Propound and respond to discovery; review and analyze documents.
  • Take and defend depositions; attend court appearances.
  • Prepare for trial and participate in trial proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements and meet all calendar deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with clients.

Requirements

  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and deadline management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CM/ECF (PACER), and document management software.
  • Familiarity with local rules of at least one California federal district court.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • CA State Bar, in good standing (required).
  • Active admission to at least one California federal district court (required).

Skills

  • Experience with federal court litigation and procedures.
  • Strong legal writing and federal briefing standards.
  • Experience with discovery management under federal rules.
  • Comfortable with federal court procedures and case management.
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions in federal cases.
