Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Firm Corporate Counsel in Chicago, IL, with consideration for remote locations across the United States. The role involves collaborating with the Office of the General Counsel to manage the firm's corporate legal affairs, including drafting corporate documents, advising on AI-related issues, and assisting with global compliance and risk management.

Duties

  • Assist the Corporate Deputy General Counsel with global legal affairs and strategic risk management planning.
  • Draft and review corporate documents for US and international offices.
  • Administer risk management policies and create training materials.
  • Stay informed on legal developments, including AI, and provide education and alerts.
  • Develop and implement AI strategy for the Legal Department.
  • Manage significant transactions and maintain checklists.
  • Create and coordinate contract templates and playbooks.
  • Review client engagement agreements and other legal documents.
  • Assist with compliance, regulatory matters, and corporate filings globally.
  • Handle corporate secretarial matters and governance documentation.
  • Respond to auditor, insurance, and client information requests.
  • Address client relationships, conflicts of interest, and intake matters.
  • Develop and implement strategic goals for risk management.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and current admission to a U.S. bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of two years of legal experience, preferably in M&A or corporate practice.
  • Experience with professional responsibility rules and codes.
  • Familiarity with AI tools in law firm settings preferred.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Creative and practical problem-solving approach.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and ethics.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple responsibilities and changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work varied hours and travel as needed.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate

  • Admission to a U.S. bar in good standing
