Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Debt Defense Consultation Attorney in Bradenton, FL. The attorney will conduct initial case evaluations for individuals facing consumer debt issues, reviewing client financial and legal information to determine viable strategies and communicate options clearly to potential clients.

Duties

  • Review and analyze consumer debt cases, including credit card, loan, and collection account matters.
  • Evaluate legal defenses, risks, and potential outcomes based on applicable consumer protection laws.
  • Advise clients on legal options, including debt defense, settlement, negotiation, and litigation strategies.
  • Conduct client consultations via phone and/or video, explaining complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Maintain accurate consultation notations in the file management system.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and applicable regulations.
  • Analyze case deadlines and procedural requirements for timely representation.
  • Identify cases for escalation, litigation, or alternative legal services.
  • Stay current on changes in consumer debt law and best practices.
  • Draft, review, and file legal pleadings and correspondence related to debt defense matters.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, creditors, and agencies to negotiate resolutions.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and mediations as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Florida Civil Rules and Procedure.
  • Clio experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in a high-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of office administration and recordkeeping systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate and a license to practice law in Florida.

Certifications

  • License to practice law in Florida.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
