A prominent Boston-based law firm is actively seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join their thriving private client practice. This role is tailored for attorneys who bring both technical expertise in estate planning and a portfolio of client relationships (book of business). Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic counsel to individuals, families, and fiduciaries on estate and wealth planning, ensuring optimal outcomes for asset protection, tax efficiency, and generational wealth transfer.

  • Draft and oversee legal instruments such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.

  • Guide clients through estate and gift tax strategies, charitable planning, and business succession arrangements.

  • Collaborate closely with clients’ financial advisors, accountants, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to planning.

  • Support trust and estate administration, advising fiduciaries on probate procedures, tax filings, and asset distributions.

  • Cultivate and expand client relationships, leveraging an existing book of business to grow the firm’s estate planning practice.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized law school.

  • Admission to practice law in Massachusetts.

  • Between 2 to 6 years of experience focused on estate planning, trust administration, and related tax matters.

  • Demonstrated client portfolio (book of business) strongly preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient knowledge of federal and state estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws.

  • Strong drafting abilities with attention to detail in creating complex estate planning documents.

  • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to explain intricate legal concepts to clients in a clear and approachable manner.

  • Adept at building and sustaining long-term client relationships, with a focus on understanding individual client needs and tailoring solutions accordingly.

  • Capacity to work independently, as well as collaborate within a team-oriented firm culture.
