Job Overview
A law firm seeks a patent agent to join their Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, relevant industry experience, and excellent writing and communication skills.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in electrical engineering and software-related technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and draft patent applications.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Communicate with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) regarding patent applications.

 

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Admission to the USPTO.

 

Education

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics.

 

Certifications

  • USPTO registration.

 

Skills

  • Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and neural networks.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications technologies, including 5G and 6G.
  • Understanding of autonomous driving and RF circuitry.
  • Proficiency in hardware and communications security, such as encryption and decryption.
