Job Overview:
A top-tier U.S. law firm is seeking an experienced Corporate Aviation Of Counsel to join its Business and Transactions practice group. This role focuses on managing complex, high-value corporate aviation transactions for a sophisticated global clientele including airlines, leasing companies, high-net-worth individuals, and financial institutions. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and be able to independently advise clients. 

Location:

  • Salt Lake City, UT

Duties:

  • Lead and manage aircraft transactions including sales, acquisitions, leases, and financing arrangements

  • Advise clients on FAA compliance, operational issues, and federal, state, and local tax implications

  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex transactional documents

  • Counsel clients on aircraft completion, customization, maintenance, and operation

  • Represent a diverse client base, including:

    • U.S. and international airlines

    • Corporate and private aircraft owners

    • High-net-worth individuals

    • Leasing companies, banks, and aviation manufacturers

  • Independently manage legal matters and client relationships

  • Serve as principal counsel in aviation matters involving general aviation to large VIP aircraft (e.g., Boeing 747-800, Boeing 787)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in corporate aviation transactions

  • Ability to independently advise clients and manage deal flow

  • Demonstrated experience handling cross-border and domestic aircraft transactions

  • Strong familiarity with FAA regulations and aviation tax structures

  • Active law license in the state corresponding to one of the office locations

  • Existing client relationships or portable book of business is highly desirable

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in the state where the candidate intends to practice

Skills:

  • Expertise in aviation regulatory and transactional law

  • High-level contract negotiation and drafting

  • Strategic thinking and legal problem-solving

  • Business development and client relationship management

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized in managing large, complex transactions
