Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Family Law Attorney for its Grand Rapids, MI office. The ideal candidate will have over five years of litigation experience and a strong interest in family law. This role may be classified as a senior associate or senior attorney, with future potential for shareholdership.

Duties

  • Develop case analysis and strategy based on client's situation.
  • Communicate with clients regarding strategy, options, and next steps.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, judgments, and orders for divorce and child-custody cases.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and court proceedings, including mediations, trials, evidentiary hearings, and motions.
  • Advise clients on family law issues such as divorce, child custody, and support.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in family law and related areas.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of litigation experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in family law preferred.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with good time management skills.
  • Excellent client service skills with proven ability to communicate and manage clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with West Michigan County courts.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and drafting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
