Job Title: Registered Funds Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A Los Angeles-based law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its sophisticated investment management and financial regulatory practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with a solid foundation in registered fund matters and a desire to work with a dynamic mix of financial institutions, asset managers, and fund sponsors. The team supports a wide range of clients-from emerging fund operators to globally recognized financial entities-providing regulatory insight and strategic guidance under the Investment Company Act and related laws.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on matters involving the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940

  • Support structuring, formation, and operation of registered investment companies, including mutual funds and ETFs

  • Draft and review offering documents, regulatory filings, and board materials

  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients on matters involving business development companies (BDCs), variable insurance products, and related financial products

  • Conduct legal analysis and prepare responses to regulatory examinations or inquiries

  • Stay current with evolving SEC regulations and industry trends

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of focused experience in investment management law, particularly in registered funds

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act

  • Familiarity with ETFs, BDCs, insurance-related products, investment adviser compliance, and/or commodities regulation is considered beneficial

  • Prior work in a large law firm, financial services institution, or governmental/regulatory agency preferred

  • Strong writing, organizational, and client-facing communication skills

  • Admitted to the California Bar

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active and good standing with the California Bar

Skills:

  • Proficient in investment fund regulatory frameworks

  • Skilled in transactional and compliance document drafting

  • Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Detail-oriented with analytical problem-solving abilities

  • Adept at communicating complex regulatory topics to clients and internal stakeholders
