Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Private Wealth Planning Associate with 2-4 years of experience in high-net-worth wealth planning to join their practice in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, academic excellence, and the ability to manage large projects while interfacing with clients and advisors.

Duties

  • Advise on multi-generational wealth planning and prepare complex estate and tax plans.
  • Structure family offices and develop strategic wealth transfer techniques.
  • Administer and restructure trusts, including advising on fiduciary duties and trust modifications.
  • Preserve and transfer specialized assets such as fine art and intellectual property.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in high-net-worth wealth planning.
  • Independent drafting experience in estate, gift, and GST tax planning strategies.
  • Experience with law or accounting firms in estate planning preferred.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a related LL.M. program preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to and in good standing with the Illinois State Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage large projects and interface with clients.
  • Expertise in tax optimization strategies and wealth transfer techniques.
