Job Overview

A law firm seeks a junior to mid-level Patent Associate to join its medical device practice in Boston, MA. The role involves working with diverse clients across various industries, focusing on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and counseling related to medical technologies.

Duties

  • Collaborate with clients to identify innovation and design strategies for patent protection.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and diagnostics.
  • Manage complex patent prosecution dockets.
  • Conduct patent landscape analysis and freedom to operate assessments.
  • Advise clients regarding patentability, validity, and infringement.
  • Perform IP due diligence in connection with VC investments and mergers and acquisitions.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience in patent prosecution and counseling related to medical technologies.
  • Strong technical background in biomedical, mechanical, robotics, electrical/computer engineering, or equivalent discipline.
  • Admitted to the patent bar.
  • Admitted to the Massachusetts Bar or eligible for admission.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to exceptional client service and a strategic approach to prosecution.

Education

  • Degree in a relevant technical field.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the patent bar.
