Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Trusts and Estates Senior Associate in Grand Rapids, MI. The ideal candidate will have three to seven years of experience in estate planning, trust and estate settlement, and related tax and corporate matters. Candidates must possess excellent research, writing, and communication skills and be licensed or willing to become licensed in Michigan.

Duties

• Develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients' specific needs and goals.
• Advise clients on tax implications and strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Handle the probate process, including court proceedings and asset distribution.
• Manage and administer trusts in compliance with applicable laws.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in estate planning, tax law, probate law, and trust law.
• Experience with high net worth families and complex estate planning.
• Proficiency in succession planning, fiduciary accounting, and tax preparation.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex legal concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Precision in drafting legal documents.
• Handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed or willing to become licensed in Michigan.
