Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation for a full-time, on-site position in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The attorney will manage employer-side workers' compensation cases from evaluation to resolution, providing strategic advice and representation.

Duties

  • Handle a caseload of workers' compensation matters from start to finish.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and correspondence.
  • Prepare discovery and appear at Workers' Compensation Appeals Board hearings and trials.
  • Advise clients on claim exposure, strategy, and risk management.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations.
  • Collaborate with senior lawyers and staff to maintain organized case files.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in law and workers' compensation.
  • Exposure to labor and employment law.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to employer-side clients.
  • Proficient in legal research, including case law and statutes.
  • Effective negotiation skills for settlements and mediations.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Prior experience in workers' compensation defense is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and interact professionally with clients and colleagues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
