Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney in Glendale, AZ. The role involves managing a diverse criminal defense caseload, including misdemeanors and felonies, with a focus on pre-trial litigation, client communication, and strategic case resolution. The attorney will handle cases primarily in Maricopa County, with occasional appearances in Pinal and Yavapai Counties.

Duties

  • Handle criminal defense matters from intake through resolution.
  • Manage an active caseload of approximately 60-70 cases.
  • Conduct client intakes and assist with signing new matters.
  • Appear regularly in court for hearings, conferences, and motions.
  • Conduct client meetings, negotiations, and motion practice.
  • Prepare cases for trial and try cases when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support firm operations.
  • Opportunity to assist on personal injury matters as experience develops.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
  • 3-5 years of criminal defense or prosecution experience preferred.
  • Experience handling both misdemeanor and felony matters.
  • Comfortable appearing in court and litigating contested issues.
  • Willing to take cases to trial when necessary.
  • Strong client-facing communication, judgment, and professionalism.
  • Able to manage a full caseload independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Arizona.
