Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Affordable Housing Associate with six or more years of experience to join its Real Estate Practice Group in Sacramento, CA. The successful candidate will work with a team of attorneys providing legal counsel to real estate owners, developers, and other stakeholders.

Duties

  • Manage the full lifecycle of affordable housing deals, including site control and due diligence.
  • Draft core deal documents such as development agreements and loan agreements.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with lenders, investors, and municipal agencies.
  • Handle transactions involving HUD programs and state housing finance agency requirements.
  • Oversee preservation, resyndications, and rehabilitation projects.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of affordable housing experience.
  • Experience with LIHTC, tax-exempt bond financings, and layered financing structures.
  • Familiarity with HUD programs and state housing finance agency requirements.
  • JD and active bar membership in good standing.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency in drafting complex legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multi-party, multi-deadline transactions.
