Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Family Law Associate Attorney in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will manage family law cases, providing exceptional client service and collaborating with partners and staff to achieve favorable outcomes. This role requires a proactive approach to case management and client representation.

Duties

  • Manage family law matters, supporting senior attorneys and handling own caseload.
  • Develop case strategy independently and collaboratively.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on family law issues.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and settlement documents.
  • Prepare clients for and participate in depositions, mediation, hearings, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel and court personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with paralegals and staff to manage cases efficiently.
  • Accurately record billable time and comply with billing practices.
  • Attend business development and networking functions.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years' experience practicing Family Law in Oregon.
  • Experience handling custody, property division, and support cases.
  • Deposition, mediation, and trial experience in family law matters.
  • Active Oregon State Bar membership; Washington State Bar membership is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience providing exceptional client service and building rapport with clients.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Willingness to supervise staff within the practice group.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Oregon State Bar.
