Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly skilled Immigration Attorney in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of litigation experience in immigration court, including handling various hearings and USCIS interviews. Experience with criminal and state juvenile court hearings is advantageous. Exceptional legal research and writing skills are essential.

Duties

  • Provide legal representation in immigration court and before USCIS.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters.
  • Represent clients in removal defense and bond hearings.
  • Advocate in court, hearings, and negotiations.
  • Conduct legal research and review motions, briefs, and appeals.
  • Review family petitions and various immigration applications.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Stay current on immigration laws and policies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Travel nationwide for court hearings and client meetings.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
  • Membership in WA, FL, or IL state bars is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in immigration litigation.
  • Experience in immigration courts and administrative proceedings.
  • Criminal defense experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
  • Experience with various immigration applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Compassionate and effective under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide, including to Seattle, WA.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
