Job Overview:
A Baton Rouge-based law firm is seeking a qualified legal professional with demonstrated experience in real estate title examination and property documentation. The role offers a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic legal environment focused on real estate transactions, title analysis, and client-driven document preparation. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and organized individual who values accuracy, discretion, and collaborative teamwork.

Duties:

  • Analyze abstract reports to verify the chain of title for real estate properties

  • Review legal instruments, including deeds, liens, easements, judgments, and plats/maps

  • Identify encumbrances and assess title issues that may impact property ownership or transfer

  • Confirm and amend property legal descriptions as necessary

  • Conduct court record searches to resolve defects or inconsistencies in the title history

  • Prepare title commitments and comprehensive property reports

  • Draft legal documents related to real estate transactions

  • Summarize and document property restrictions impacting sale or development

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of direct experience in title examination or related legal work

  • Active license to practice law in Mississippi

  • Prior experience with title software (Qualia preferred)

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be a current member in good standing with the Mississippi Bar

Skills:

  • Strong analytical reasoning and legal research capabilities

  • High level of accuracy in reviewing documents and identifying legal risks

  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated reliability, ethical conduct, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
