Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate for its Sarasota, Florida office. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts, strong research and writing skills, and a commitment to client service. Florida Bar admission is required.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies for commercial disputes.
  • Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff on case strategy and litigation management.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, and legal memoranda.
  • Attend and participate in court hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and provide updates on case developments.
  • Manage caseload efficiently while meeting litigation deadlines and billable requirements.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • 1-3 years of commercial litigation experience in local and state court.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal rules of procedure.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.

  • Ability to work with a variety of attorneys and staff.
