Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Federal Litigation Attorney to join their team remotely, preferably based in California. This role involves handling federal court litigation with a focus on consumer protection and civil litigation matters.

Duties

  • File and litigate cases in California federal district courts.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for state and federal court.
  • Conduct case assessments, investigations, and legal research.
  • Propound and respond to discovery; review and analyze documents.
  • Take and defend depositions; attend court appearances.
  • Prepare for trial and participate in trial proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements and meet all calendar deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with clients.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Works efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CM/ECF (PACER), and document management software.
  • Familiarity with local rules of at least one California federal district court.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • CA State Bar, in good standing (required).
  • Active admission to at least one California federal district court (required).

Skills

  • Core litigation experience in federal court.
  • Experience with pleadings and motion practice.
  • Managing discovery under federal rules.
  • Experience with court procedure and case management.
  • Depositions and trial preparation experience.
  • Comfortable with hearings and court appearances.
